Sarawak is a big state and to visit every nook and corner may takes weeks if not months. However for the purpose of most travelers, this itinerary planner caters for those planning from half a day to a month. The itineraries are build around a modular system of “building blocks” of half a day and a day, of which all are listed with  brief descriptions and a link for further references. Since all travelers are not alike, they are advise to use these building blocks to plan their itineraries based on their number of days here.

Half-day blocks (This refer to one morning 8.00am – 12noon or afternoon from 12noon to 4.00pm)

The Sarawak Cultural Village (3  1/2 – 4 hours)

Semenggoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (2 1/2 hours)

Annah Rais Bidayuh Longhouse ( 3 -3 1/2 hours)

Serikin border market (3 – 3 1/2 hours)

Wind Cave and Fairy Caves (4 hours)

Jong Crocodile Farm (3 1/2 hours)

-Bau town and Siniawan town (3 1/2 hours)

Matang Wildlife Centre (3 1/2 hours)

Dolphin watching and mangrove swamp (4 1/2 hours)

Satang Island turtle sanctuary (4 1/2 hours)

Kuching Heritage Walk (1 – 2 hours)

Satok Weekend market (1 hour)

-Sunset cruise on Sarawak River (4 1/2 hours)

Note: The time indicated include traveling time, thus if a combination is made, total hours may be less as some of the destinations are near to each other)

One day blocks (This refer to 8.00am to 4.00pm)

Borneo Highland kayaking (8.00am – 3.00pm)

Borneo Highland kayaking + Semenggoh (8.00am – 5.00pm)

Borneo Highland kayaking + Annah Rais Longhouse (8.00am – 5.00pm)

Bako National Park (Day trip) –

Gunung Gading National Park + Lundu and/or Sematan (8.00am – 5.00pm)

 

Suggestion for itineraries

Example of itineraries using the above half day blocks and one day blocks

One day – Morning – Sarawak Cultural Village, afternoon – Semenggoh Wildlife Rehab. Centre (Note: Both locations are in different directions and wide apart, thus it will take a whole day, including stopping for lunch along midway)

One day – Semenggoh Wildlife Rehab. Centre – lunch at 10th Mile Bazaar – Annah Rais Longhouse (Note: Both locations are along the same road, thus saving traveling time which can be utiliz ed for relaxing lunch at the 10th Mile Bazaar which has a lively weekend market (Saturday and Sunday morning).

One Day – Serikin weekend market and Wind and Fairy Caves – As the name suggests, Serikin markets are only open on Saturday and Sunday, and the Caves are nearby along the day. Suggested lunch at Bau Bazaar nearby and a swim in the river after the visit to Wind Cave.

One Day – Satang Island turtle sanctuary for whole morning and return on the way to Satok weekend market in the afternoon (Saturday only)

One Day – Dolphin and Mangrove swamp forest tour in the morning and onward to Satang Island in the afternoon for swimming and snorkeling, return for Satok weekend market if time is still available (only on Saturday)

One Day – Kayaking in the Borneo Highland area.  This will take up a whole morning and early afternoon.

One Day – Semenggoh WRC in the morning and continue to kayaking in the Borneo Highland area (same direction), this will take a whole morning and a good part of the afternoon.

One Day – Annah Rais Longhouse and then onward to kayaking in the same area. A one whole day activity.

One Day – Semenggoh WRC in the morning, continue to Annah Rais Longhouse and then to kayaking, though this three locations are in the same region, it will take a whole day and can be tiring unless physically fit.
